Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials

BRC IOP Standard is directed to the packaging manufacturers and packaging materials in contact with food.

In February, 2011 the 4^th edition of this standard was published. The standard puts emphasis on quality and the aspects of packaging, complying with the hygiene requirements in manufacturing plants. BRC IOP is focused on safety, legality and quality of packaging and packaging materials. In the 4th edition of the BRC IOP special attention paid on the requirements to reduce the risk of migration from the food packaging, print control management, the introduction of ‘fundamental’ requirements which are essential to the efficient functioning of the packaging.

For the sake of kind of the technology used in the manufacture of the packaging, BRC IOP includes glass packaging, packaging made of paper and cardboard, metal packaging, wooden and plastic packaging.

Global Standard for Packaging distinguishes three categories of packaging taking consideration into hygienic standards associated their production. BRC IOP is leading Global standard adopted by the largest packaging companies in the world.
